30 Day Book Challenge: Day 6

by sj

Bleeeeeeeeeeeeergh.  Listen, I have to do this SOMEHOW spoiler free because I know there are people reading that HAVEN’T READ THIS BOOK, even though it drives me crazy that they haven’t SO I’M BEING NICE.

A Book That Makes Me Cry

I like this cover better than the others. Shut up.

Yup.  Still.  Every time.  Snaping Algul Siento, man.  Every time.  That part will ALWAYS make me cry.  Even though it was spoiled for me (see how awesome I am not spoiling it for anyone else?!), I STILL cried.  At work.  On break.  In front of at least 30 other people.

BUT, my friend J saw what I was reading and came over and asked me in a small voice “[redacted]?”

“Yeah,” I replied.  Then I started crying again.

And he just sat there with me.  So, even though I can’t talk about it with people who I’m HOPING will still read it some day, those of you that HAVE read it will know exactly what I’m talking about.

Algul Siento.  [sad face]

  1. They’re on my after-exam list!! I started, but I could tell I would get interrupted, so I gave up before I would just get annoyed with having to start again and never actually read them. But I will!

  2. I’m kind of dreading getting to this one again. I cried A LOT the first time I read it. Oh my.

    • Yeah, I’ve read the first 3 more times than I can count, 4 I generally skim, 5 a bunch of times, 6, I skip past a lot of the manni stuff, but 7 I’ve only read beginning to end 3 times. I can’t handle it.

  3. SIGH SIGH SIGH.

Me too. In my car. On my lunch break. WAILED.

Don’t think I’ve ever been so devastated by a turn of events in a book in my life.

(Are we talking about the same turn of events? You know which one killed me. Is it the same one that killed you?)

    • I think so. Algul Siento, is the Devar-toi (Blue Heaven). It happened on the border of Thunderclap, not in Maine or later on. It was the FIRST ONE. So I think we’re talking about the same thing.

  4. I’m giving you a virtual hug, even though I have no idea (yet) what you’re talking about. Emphasis on *yet*…

  5. So only six books to read until I get there? *sigh* My to-read list is higher than my head!

    Thanks for not being spoilery.
